[African histoplasmosis due to Histoplasma capsulatum var. duboisii: relationship with AIDS in recent Congolese cases].

Six new cases are described for African histoplasmosis, Histoplasma capsulatum var. duboisii, from Congo. The first was an HIV sero-negative child who has been monitored for the last three years.

Disseminated African histoplasmosis in a Congolese patient with AIDS.

We report the first Congolese case of African histoplasmosis in a patient with AIDS which represents the third case to be described in the literature. This contrasts with the now frequent occurrence of Histoplasma capsulatum histoplasmosis in HIV-infected subjects in North America; the difference is likely to be due to differences in exposure to the fungus rather than to differences in behaviour of the fungus or in the epidemiology of HIV.

[Hepatic amebiasis: various aspects in Brazzaville].

The authors present the results of a study of 27 cases of hepatic amoebiasis observed in the general hospital of Brazzaville from the 1st January to the 30th June 1982; then they precise the various aspects of this frequent infection in Congo.

From 1952 to 1976, 910 cases of intestinal schistosomiasis have been registered in People's Republic of Congo. The distribution is not homogeneous. The higher rate has been registered in Brazzaville.
