Aim: To improve the results of treatment of gastroesophageal variceal bleeding (GEVB) in cirrhotic patients with thrombocytopenia.

Material And Methods: A total experience of the clinic includes 338 GEVB patients, endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) were performed in 162 and 157 cases respectively. Nevertheless, just the efficacy of initial pharmacological hemostatic therapy was analyzed.

Examined were 1345 miners working in deep coal mines (temperature 27 degrees C and higher) and non-deep mines (temperature not exceeding 26 degrees C). It was found that increased temperature against the background of other noxious factors of the mine environment and strenuous physical work further the development of diseases of the cardio-vascular system (hypertensive disease, vegetovascular dystonia, ischemic heart disease).

An epidemiological survey of 2000 Donbass coal miners revealed data on the initial dust bronchitis prevalence and its progress. It was established that the coal miners who work in mines with steep coal strata exhibit higher bronchitis morbidity in comparison with the miners engaged in sloping strata mines. A correlation was established between dust bronchitis prevalence and length of professional service and coal miners' labour specificity.
