A preparative synthesis of previously unknown 21- and 14-membered azamacrocycles acid-promoted cyclotrimerization or cyclodimerization of three readily available precursors, namely, 1-amino-6-hydroxy-4,6-dimethylhexahydropyrimidine-2-thione, 4-(4-oxopent-2-yl)thiosemicarbazide hydrazone, and 5,7-dimethyl-1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-3-1,2,4-triazepine-3-thione has been developed. A dramatic dependence of the selectivity of macrocyclization on the reaction conditions is demonstrated. The thermodynamic aspects of the reactions are discussed based on experimental data and DFT calculation results.

Design and development of novel, low-cost and efficient electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline media is crucial for lowering the reaction overpotential and thus decreasing the energy input during the water electrolysis process. Herein, we present the synthesis of new 14-membered bis-thiosemicarbazide and bis-isothiosemicarbazide macrocycles and their nickel(II) complexes characterized by spectroscopic techniques (H and C NMR, IR, UV-vis), electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, single crystal X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) and cyclic voltammetry. Finally, the activity of nickel(II) complexes towards OER is reported.

In 89 patients with COVID-19, the ratios between IL-18, free IL-18, and IL-18-binding protein (IL-18BP) were analyzed depending on severity and outcome of the disease. At admission to the hospital, the levels of IL-18 and free IL-18 were significantly higher than 3 months after discharge from the hospital, the levels IL-18BP of being almost the same. In patients with more severe lung injury (computed tomography data), the levels of IL-18 and free IL-18 were higher and IL-18BP levels were lower than in patients with mild and moderate COVID-19.

Objective: Aim: To describe health status and related functioning of patients with different severity of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in past medical history in Ukraine and determining the feasibility of using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) Brief Core Set for TBI.

Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: A total of 102 patients, who were treated in the neurological department of Dnipropetrovsk regional clinical hospital and State Institution ≪Ukrainian State Scientific Research Institute of Medical and Social Problems of Disability of Health Ministry of Ukraine≫, had been examined. Patients were divided into three groups: mild, moderate and severe TBI in past history and evaluated using ICF Brief Core Set for TBI.
