Computed tomographic characteristics of craniomandibular osteopathy in 20 dogs.

Craniomandibular osteopathy (CMO) is a proliferative, self-limiting, non-neoplastic disease of growing dogs characterised by excessive new bone formation on the skull and mandible. The radiographic findings of CMO are well described; however, limited reports of the computed tomographic (CT) appearance are available. This paper aims to characterise the spectrum of CT findings that can occur with CMO.

Bronchial collapse and bronchial stenting in 9 dogs.

Background: Principal and lobar bronchial collapse is increasingly recognized as an isolated entity.

Objective: Retrospectively describe the procedure and outcomes of dogs undergoing bronchial stenting at a single referral hospital.

Animals: Nine client-owned dogs with variable degrees of collapse of the left principal bronchus (LPB), lobar bronchus 1 (LB1), and lobar bronchus 2 (LB2), and with clinically relevant signs of respiratory dysfunction.

Groundfish biodiversity change in northeastern Pacific waters under projected warming and deoxygenation.

In the coming decades, warming and deoxygenation of marine waters are anticipated to result in shifts in the distribution and abundance of fishes, with consequences for the diversity and composition of fish communities. Here, we combine fisheries-independent trawl survey data spanning the west coast of the USA and Canada with high-resolution regional ocean models to make projections of how 34 groundfish species will be impacted by changes in temperature and oxygen in British Columbia (BC) and Washington. In this region, species that are projected to decrease in occurrence are roughly balanced by those that are projected to increase, resulting in considerable compositional turnover.

Extended Computed Tomography Scale Images Provide a Detailed Assessment of Metal Screws and Are Superior to Standard Computed Tomography Scale Images and Digital Radiography at Detecting Experimentally Induced Screw Fractures In Vitro.

Objectives:  (1) To compare the ability of standard computed tomography (CT) scale (SCTS) and extended CT scale (ECTS) images, produced using conventional CT technology, to provide detailed assessment of metal screws in vitro. (2) To assess how screw size, type, and orientation relative to the -axis of the gantry affect implant assessment. (3) To test the ability of SCTS, ECTS, and radiography to diagnose screw failure when there is negligible screw fragment displacement.
