Objective: Law is an important factor in the diffusion of syringe services programs (SSPs). This study measures the current status of, and 5-year change in, state laws governing SSP operations and possession of syringes by participants.

Methods: Legal researchers developed a cross-sectional data set measuring key features of state laws and regulations governing the possession and distribution of syringes across the 50 US states and the District of Columbia in effect on August 1, 2019.

Previous retrospective studies have suggested that the prophylactic use of outlet forceps has a beneficial impact on the neonate because it shortens the second stage of labor and decreases the incidence of neonatal hypoxia. The purpose of this study was to compare the immediate maternal and neonatal effects of outlet forceps delivery (N = 165) with spontaneous vaginal delivery (N = 168) in term parturients. Signs of stimulated erythropoiesis, such as increased creatine and decreased density of red cells are good indicators of hypoxemia in adults and older children. The sensitivity of both tests in perinatal hypoxia was found to be reduced. The causes for this reduction were investigated.
