Yerba mate (YM, ) is an economically important crop marketed for the elaboration of mate, the third-most widely consumed caffeine-containing infusion worldwide. Here, we report the first genome assembly of this species, which has a total length of 1.06 Gb and contains 53,390 protein-coding genes.

Liver metastases frequently occur in pancreatic and colorectal cancer. Their development is promoted by tumor-derived exosomes with the integrin αβ on their membrane. This integrin directs exosomes to the liver, where they promote a TGF-β-dependent pre-metastatic niche.

Polyhedrin from baculovirus is a protein that self-aggregates forming a crystal structure known as polyhedra. Baculovirus occluded inside the crystal withstand for years at room temperature retaining infectivity. By investigating the smallest fragment from polyhedrin retaining the self-aggregation properties we identified a 29 amino acid sequence that spontaneously forms nanoparticles.

This species has been poorly studied, reporting the presence of some bioactive compounds with antioxidant and antibacterial activity. In this study, phenolic and flavonoid contents and composition, antioxidant and antifungal activities of aqueous extracts of the stem of and its fractions were determined.
