Structural development of the HIV-1 apex-directed PGT145-PGDM1400 antibody lineage.

Broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs) targeting the apex of the HIV-1-envelope (Env) trimer comprise the most potent category of HIV-1 bNAbs and have emerged as promising therapeutics. Here, we investigate the development of the HIV-1 apex-directed PGT145-PGDM1400 antibody lineage and report cryo-EM structures at 3.4 Å resolution of PGDM1400 and of an improved PGT145 variant (PGT145-R100aS), each bound to the BG505 Env trimer.

Validation of CLASS MRI for personalized ACL footprints identification.

Purpose: In modern anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery, the focus is usually on anatomical reconstruction to restore the natural kinematics of the knee. The individual optimal positioning of the ACL footprints (FPs) in primary surgery is still controversial and, especially in revision surgery, difficult to realize surgically. In this regard, a new MRI-based sequence, the Compressed Lateral and anteroposterior Anatomic Systematic Sequence (CLASS) with marked femoral and tibial FPs as a template, could help.

A novel piglet model of esophageal stricture following variable segmental esophageal resection and re-anastomosis.

Background: Esophageal strictures following esophageal atresia repair are a source of significant morbidity. To test new therapeutic approaches, we designed a piglet model of esophageal stricture by resecting variable lengths of esophagus with subsequent re-anastomosis. This study describes the model and validates its physiologic impact by blinded analysis of the weight gains of the piglets.

The concept of femoro-acetabular impingement (FAI) rests on three pillars: cam-deformity, pincer-deformity and abnormal femoral torsion. Several treatment modalities exist, ranging from conservative management to open or arthroscopic surgery. The type of treatment depends on the pathomorphology, the severity of symptoms, thepatient's age and the extent of the degenerative lesions.
