The human skin hosts an estimated 1000 bacterial species that are essential for maintaining skin health. Extensive clinical and preclinical studies have established the significant role of the skin microbiome in dermatological disorders such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, diabetic foot ulcers, hidradenitis suppurativa and skin cancers. In these conditions, the skin microbiome is not only altered but, in some cases, implicated in disease pathophysiology.

- Recent research identifies low-density lipoprotein receptor related protein 1 (Lrp1) as a key factor that enables JCV and other bunyaviruses to infect cells, particularly in the nervous system.
- Experiments show that neurons lacking Lrp1 have reduced JCV infection rates, suggesting that targeting Lrp1 could lead to new antiviral treatments for diseases caused by bunyaviruses.
Emotion dysregulation (ED) is common and severe in older autistic youth, but is rarely the focus of early autism screening or intervention. Moreover, research characterizing ED in the preschool years (when autism is typically diagnosed) is limited. This study aimed to characterize ED in autistic children by examining (1) prevalence and severity of ED as compared to children without an autism diagnosis; and (2) correlates of ED in autistic children.
