Aim: To investigate the blood pressure (BP) and ductal calibre patterns associated with early ductal closure in very low gestational age (<32 weeks) infants.

Methods: Blood pressure was continuously measured intra-arterially among 43 infants participating in a randomised, double-blind trial of 4 days prophylactic intravenous paracetamol. Early closure of the ductus was verified by daily ultrasound examinations.

Background: Developing predictive models for precision psychiatry is challenging because of unavailability of the necessary data: extracting useful information from existing electronic health record (EHR) data is not straightforward, and available clinical trial datasets are often not representative for heterogeneous patient groups. The aim of this study was constructing a natural language processing (NLP) pipeline that extracts variables for building predictive models from EHRs. We specifically tailor the pipeline for extracting information on outcomes of psychiatry treatment trajectories, applicable throughout the entire spectrum of mental health disorders ("transdiagnostic").

In this paper we give an overview of the field of patient simulators and provide qualitative and quantitative comparison of different modeling and simulation approaches. Simulators can be used to train human caregivers but also to develop and optimize algorithms for clinical decision support applications and test and validate interventions. In this paper we introduce three novel patient simulators with different levels of representational accuracy: HeartPole, a simplistic transparent rule-based system, GraphSim, a graph-based model trained on intensive care data, and Auto-ALS-an adjusted version of an educational software package used for training junior healthcare professionals.

Background: Paracetamol promotes early closure of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), and it may affect inflammation after preterm birth.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between paracetamol treatment and serum inflammatory biomarkers in very preterm infants with respiratory distress.

Study Design: The infants were randomly assigned to intravenous paracetamol or placebo during the first 4 days of life, and others received a lower dose of paracetamol unblinded.
