A possible role of lncRNA MEG3 and lncRNA MAFG-AS1 on miRNA 147-b in the pathogenesis of Behcet's disease.

Behcet's disease (BD) is a multisystem disease with altered Toll-like receptors (TLRs) on macrophages. Long noncoding RNA Maternally expressed gene 3 (lncRNA MEG3) and lncRNA Musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma oncogene family, protein G antisense 1 (MAFG-AS1) are regulators of microRNA (miRNA) 147-b, which is induced upon TLR stimulation. We included fifty BD patients, and fifty age and sex-matched controls.

Postpartum family planning among women attending maternal and child health centers in Assiut Governorate, Upper Egypt.

Background: Postpartum family planning (PPFP) is important in helping couples to achieve their reproductive intentions. National surveys have consistently reported higher fertility, lower use of family planning (FP), and higher unmet needs for FP in Upper Egypt. This study aims to identify the factors associated with the use of PPFP in Assiut Governorate, Upper Egypt, and to assess the current status of integration of PPFP counseling in the existing maternal and child health services (MCH).

Nurses' performance in using the APACHE score: Its effect on outcomes of patients with cardiac surgery.

The Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) score was developed to assess disease severity. Once organ failure develops, laboratory values and hemodynamic parameters should be monitored to assess the degree of impairment. This study aimed to assess nurses' performance regarding using the APACHE scoring system and its effect on the outcomes of patients with cardiac surgery.

Role of tranexamic acid-soaked gelatin sponge in minimizing rectus sheath hematoma after cesarean section in women treated with warfarin, a simple tool for high-risk cases, a randomized controlled trial.

Background: This study aims to illustrate the impact of applying the tranexamic acid impregnated in a gelatin sponge between the anterior rectus sheath and the Rectus Abdominis muscle during Cesarean section (CS) in minimizing rectus sheath hematoma (RHS) in women treated with Warfarin.

Methods: A clinical trial was carried out on 63 pregnant women attended for elective CS, who on antenatal warfarin anticoagulation started from 13 weeks gestation to 36 weeks then shifted to low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) or unfractionated heparin (UFH), and with an indication for postnatal warfarin anticoagulation. They were randomly assigned on the day of the scheduled CS into three equal groups (21 women for each).
