Elevated cholesterol poses a significant cardiovascular risk, particularly in older women. The glucocorticoid receptor (GR), a crucial nuclear transcription factor that regulates the metabolism of virtually all major nutrients, harbors a still undefined role in cholesterol regulation. Here, we report that a coding single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the gene encoding the GR, , associated with increased cholesterol levels in women according to UK Biobank and All Of Us datasets.

We propose a variational wave function to represent quantum skyrmions as bosonic operators. The operator faithfully reproduces two fundamental features of quantum skyrmions: their classical magnetic order and a "quantum cloud" of local spin-flip excitations. Using exact numerical simulations of the ground states of a 2D chiral magnetic model, we find two regions in the single-skyrmion state diagram distinguished by their leading quantum corrections.

Introduction: The impact of streamlining algorithms for stroke patients on process times in pre-hospital emergency medicine (PHEM) is not well investigated. We analyzed the changes in pre- and in-hospital process times after implementation of a streamlining algorithm in a physician staffed PHEM system.

Patients: We conducted a prospective observational study and analyzed process times of adult stroke patients attended by emergency physicians (EP) of the city of Göttingen PHEM service after implementation of a streamlining algorithm including stroke triage using the FAST-ED score.

Background: apoER2 (apolipoprotein E receptor-2) is a transmembrane receptor in the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) family with unique tissue expression. A single-nucleotide polymorphism that encodes the R952Q sequence variant has been associated with elevated plasma cholesterol levels and increased myocardial infarction risk in humans. The objective of this study was to delineate the mechanism underlying the association between the apoER2 variant with arginine-to-glutamine substitution at residue 952 (R952Q) and increased atherosclerosis risk.
