Unlabelled: Platelets promote tumor metastasis by several mechanisms. Platelet-tumor cell interactions induce the release of platelet cytokines, chemokines, and other factors that promote tumor cell epithelial-mesenchymal transition and invasion, granulocyte recruitment to circulating tumor cells (CTCs), and adhesion of CTCs to the endothelium, assisting in their extravasation at metastatic sites. Previous studies have shown that platelet activation in the context of thrombus formation requires the Class IA PI 3-kinase PI3Kβ.

Nearly 45% of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients harbor a mutation in their gene for which, despite many years of research, there are still no targeted therapies available. Protein Arginine Methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5) is a transcription regulator for multiple cellular processes that is currently being tested as a potential target in several cancer types. PRMT5 has been previously shown to be overexpressed in approximately 75% of CRC patient tumor samples, as well as negatively correlated with CRC patient survival.

Milrinone (M) has been shown to improve left ventricular (LV) performance in animal and human studies. M has strong vasodilator action, and whether increased LV performance is due primarily to vasodilation or to a direct positive inotropic effect is unclear. Ten mongrel dogs were studied.

Flow cytometry (FCM) was used to investigate antigenic expression and modulation during the cell cycle of Y-79 and WERI-Rb1 tissue cultured retinoblastoma cell lines using a polyclonal anti-Y-79 antibody and fluorescein conjugated lectins. Several Y-79 resting cell populations were identified by FCM analysis of antibody binding, while only a single population with uniform antigen expression was found to exist in the synthetic and mitotic phases. WERI-Rb1 cells bound antibody approximately equally in each phase of the cell cycle.
