Background: Mastocytosis is characterized by expanding neoplastic mast cells in organs such as the skin, bone marrow, and gastrointestinal tract. The release of mast cell mediators triggers cutaneous, gastrointestinal, and other symptoms. Currently, no validated mastocytosis-specific patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) exists to assess disease control.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: The aim of the underlying study was to present a new surgical method in PreserFlo MicroShunt surgery for glaucoma. A removable polyamide suture was placed into the lumen of the MicroShunt during implantation to prevent early postoperative hypotony.
Methods: Thirty-one patients undergoing stand-alone glaucoma surgery with implantation of a PreserFlo MicroShunt and an intraluminal occlusion were retrospectively reviewed and compared to a control group without occlusion.
Exploration of potential preliminary screeners, and examination of social intervention outcomes for effects on comorbid symptoms is imperative. The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL; Achenbach & Rescorla, Achenbach and Rescorla, Manual for the ASEBA school-age forms & profiles, University of Vermont, Research Center for Children, Youth & Families, 2001) provides a potential ASD screener and intervention outcome evaluation. This study had two aims: (1) to examine CBCL scales scores as a potential ASD screener; (2) to investigate PEERS® outcomes via the CBCL for Autistic adolescents.

There is consensus that neurological differences are present in ASD. Further, theories emphasize the mixture of hypo- and hyper-connectivity as a neuropathologies in ASD [O'Reilly, Lewis, & Elsabbagh, 2017]; however, there is a paucity of studies specifically testing neurological underpinnings as predictors of success on social skills interventions.

It is not completely clear, however, why rates of mental health concerns are so high. Some evidence suggests that social connectedness might play a key role.
