A cross-sectional analysis was performed to investigate associations between environmental temperatures and injury occurrence in two professional male football (soccer) leagues. Data from seven seasons of the German Bundesliga (2142 matches) and four seasons of the Australian A-League (470 matches) were included. Injuries were collated via media reports for the Bundesliga and via team staff reports in the A-League and comprised injury incidence, mechanisms (contact, noncontact), locations (e.

Inhibition of mitochondrial pyruvate transport via the mitochondrial pyruvate carrier (MPC) has shown beneficial effects in treating metabolic diseases, certain cancers, various forms of neurodegeneration, and hair loss. These benefits arise either from the direct inhibition of mitochondrial pyruvate metabolism or from the metabolic rewiring when pyruvate entry is inhibited. However, current MPC inhibitors are either nonspecific or possess poor pharmacokinetic properties.

Background: Successful tooth autotransplantation (TAT) requires preservation of the periodontal ligament (PDL) on donor teeth and good vascularization of the recipient site to ensure maintenance of alveolar bone volume through physiological stimulation of PDL. This retrospective study aims to evaluate the survival and success rate of a two-step procedure that uses dual periodontal stimulation and a 3D replica of the transplanted tooth to promote ligament repair and prevent ankylosis and root resorption.

Material And Methods: All consecutive patients followed at the dental center of Rennes and having undergone a TAT in two surgical stages with double periodontal stimulation and the use of a 3D replica of the transplanted tooth between 2017 and 2022 were invited for follow-up clinical and radiographic examination.

Cigarette smoke is one of the main factors in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a respiratory syndrome marked by persistent respiratory symptoms and increasing airway obstruction. Perturbed NAD+/NADH levels may play a role in various diseases, including lung disorders like COPD. In our study, we investigated the preventive effect of NADH supplementation in an experimental model of COPD induced by cigarette smoke extract (CSE).

Background: HDV antibody testing is recommended for universal screening and as the first line in an HDV double reflex testing strategy for effectively identifying patients with active infection for therapeutic treatments.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of a newly developed ARCHITECT HDV Total Ig (ARCHITECT HDV Ig) prototype assay.

Study Design: Performance characteristics were determined for the ARCHITECT HDV Ig and a reference test, LIAISON XL Anti-HDV using a well-characterized specimen panel, comprising HDV RNA positive (n = 62) and negative (n = 70) samples, and healthy US blood donors.
