Reconstructing Critical-Sized Mandibular Defects in a Rabbit Model: Enhancing Angiogenesis and Facilitating Bone Regeneration via a Cell-Loaded 3D-Printed Hydrogel-Ceramic Scaffold Application.

In this study, we propose a spatially patterned 3D-printed nanohydroxyapatite (nHA)/beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP)/collagen composite scaffold incorporating human dental pulp-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hDP-MSCs) for bone regeneration in critical-sized defects. We investigated angiogenesis and osteogenesis in a rabbit critical-sized mandibular defect model treated with this engineered construct. The critical and synergistic role of collagen coating and incorporation of stem cells in the regeneration process was confirmed by including a cell-free uncoated 3D-printed nHA/β-TCP scaffold, a stem cell-loaded 3D-printed nHA/β-TCP scaffold, and a cell-free collagen-coated 3D-printed nHA/β-TCP scaffold in the experimental design, in addition to an empty defect.

The role of different lipid measures for incident hypertension during more than 12-year follow-up: Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study.

The associations of different lipid measures and related indices with incident hypertension during a median follow-up of 12·89 years were examined. Fasting levels of total cholesterol (TC), TAG, HDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol, and related indices (TC/HDL-cholesterol and TAG/HDL-cholesterol) were determined in 7335 Iranian adults (men = 3270) free of hypertension, aged 39·0 (sd 13·2) years. Multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression was applied and lipid parameters were considered either as categorical or continuous variables.

Lethal outcome of Covid-19 pneumonia in a new liver recipient with neurological manifestation.

COVID-19 is a new contagious viral pneumonia with various signs and symptoms, including loss of consciousness, liver injury, and cerebrovascular accident; however, there is little data on the manifestation and outcome of COVID-19 in liver transplant patients. Moreover, because transplant units in Iran were closed from the first day of the COVID-19 pandemic, accurate data about nosocomial COVID-19 and the liver transplant setting is not available. In this article, we introduce a liver transplant recipient with a final fatal outcome, who had had neurological manifestations, and whose COVID-19 manifestations began in the hospital within 2 days of transplant surgery.

Mycotoxins Detection and Fungal Contamination in Black and Green Tea by HPLC-Based Method.

The fungal contamination and total aflatoxins (AF) and ochratoxin A (OTA) of tea samples were examined. A total of 60 tea samples were extracted and treated with immunoaffinity columns. The amount of AF and OTA were determined by using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with a fluorescence detector (FD).

Impact Of Hypertension versus Diabetes on Cardiovascular and All-cause Mortality in Iranian Older Adults: Results of 14 Years of Follow-up.

To evaluate the joint effect of hypertension (HTN) and diabetes (DM) on coronary heart disease (CHD), and stroke event, all-cause, and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality in Middle Eastern older adults, 2747 people (1436 women) aged ≥ 50 years, free of CVD at baseline, were categorized into four groups (HTN-/DM-, HTN+/DM-, HTN-/DM+, HTN+/DM+). Multivariate Cox proportional hazard models were run for different outcomes. To compare the impact of HTN versus DM, HTN+/DM- was considered as reference.
