The impact of bilateral transient occlusion of uterine and utero-ovarian arteries on surgical blood loss during laparoscopic myomectomy: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Background: The primary perioperative concern during laparoscopic myomectomy is the risk of significant intraoperative blood loss, which can lead to hypovolemia, necessitate blood transfusion, and result in postoperative anemia. To address this issue, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the impact of temporarily clamping the uterine and utero-ovarian arteries on operative blood loss during laparoscopic myomectomy.

Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search across various databases to identify eligible clinical trials from inception to May 2024, focusing on randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Comparison between Trans-Arterial Chemoembolization Followed by Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy and Trans-Arterial Chemoembolization Alone in BCLC Stage B Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Pilot Study.

Objective: Both Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) and Trans-arterial Chemoembolization (TACE) are now being widely used to treat advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and can improve tumor local control rates. We aimed at evaluating the efficacy and toxicity of combining SBRT and TACE in comparison to TACE alone in unresectable HCC.

Methods: 42 unresectable Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage B HCC Child Pugh (CP) A patients were randomized to receive either: TACE alone (Arm A) or TACE followed by SBRT (Arm B).

Influence of Technological Parameters on Chip Formation and Chip Control in Precision Hard Turning of Ti-6Al-4V.

This article presents the results of an experimental investigation into the effect of process parameters in the precision hard turning of Ti-6Al-4V on chip morphology at both macro and micro levels. It also reports on the control of chip generation to improve chip evacuation and breakability at the macro level by varying the process parameters, namely, feed rate, cutting speed and depth of cut during turning tests. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to examine the chips produced for a better understanding of chip curling mechanisms at the micro level.

Transhepatic ultrasound guided embolization as a successful novel technique in treatment of pediatric complex intrahepatic arterioportal fistula: a case report and review of the literature.

Introduction: Intrahepatic vascular shunts "IHVS" are abnormal communications between intra-hepatic vasculature involving the arterial, portal, or hepatic venous system. Arterio-portal fistula "APF" is an intrahepatic communication between the hepatic arterial system and the portal venous system without any communication with the systemic venous circulation. APF is considered a rare cause of portal hypertension and gastrointestinal bleeding in infancy.

Aortic arch surgery for type B aortic dissection: How far should we go? The value of a hybrid approach.

Traditionally, the management of type B aortic dissection has been the domain of the vascular surgeons. Timing and type of intervention still generate debate. We sought to review our early experience with the treatment of this condition based on a hybrid approach following an aortic multi-disciplinary team meeting involving close cooperation between cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, vascular anesthetists, and cardiac anesthetists.
