IPM Strategy to Control EFB in : Oxytetracycline Treatment Combined with Partial Shook Swarm and Queen Caging.

We tested an integrated pest management (IPM) strategy to control European foulbrood (EFB) in honey bees. Colonies affected by EFB were assigned to two homogenous groups: an oxytetracycline-treated group (1.5 g OTC/hive) that underwent partial shook swarm (PSS) in combination with queen caging (QC) and an untreated group where only two beekeeping techniques, PSS and QC, were applied.

A new operative technique for aural haematoma in dogs: A retrospective clinical study.

Aural haematoma is treated either by surgical or by conservative treatment. Both techniques usually require several interventions and re-checks. A new operation technique has been evaluated that requires only a single procedure but is as effective as the techniques used previously.

Collateral circulation of the rat lower limb and its significance in ischemia-reperfusion studies.

Purpose: Rats are the most commonly used animal model for studies of acute lower limb ischemia-reperfusion. The ischemia induced by arterial clamping may cause milder damage than the application of a tourniquet if the presence of a possible collateral system is considered.

Methods: Male Wistar rats were randomized into three groups: in group A, the muscle weight affected by ischemia was measured; in group B, the severity of muscle damage caused by the application of a tourniquet and by infrarenal aortic occlusion was examined.

Oestrogen (E2) and thyroid hormones (THs) are key regulators of cerebellar development. Recent reports implicate a complex mechanism through which E2 and THs influence the expression levels of each other's receptors (ERs and TRs) to precisely mediate developmental signals and modulate signal strength. We examined the modulating effects of E2 and THs on the expression levels of their receptor mRNAs and proteins in cultured cerebellar cells obtained from 7-day-old rat pups.
