  • Women with endometriosis exhibit enhanced levels of active vitamin D (1.25OHD) and lower levels of its precursor (25OHD) compared to healthy controls, indicating a potential abnormality in vitamin D metabolism related to the condition.
  • The study aimed to evaluate the impact of laparoscopic treatment on vitamin D metabolite and calcium levels in patients with endometriosis, comparing preoperative and postoperative measurements to those of healthy individuals.
  • Results showed that after surgery, patients had significantly increased 25OHD levels and decreased 1.25OHD and calcium levels, suggesting that endometriosis affects vitamin D metabolism and that surgical intervention can help normalize these levels.
