: Narration is a sensitive tool for the assessment of language in children with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder (HF-ASD) since mild language deficits beyond the sentential level are not always noticeable through the administration of standardized language tests targeting the lexical or sentential level. This study investigated the narrative ability of monolingual Greek-speaking HF-ASD children in comparison to that of their typically developing (TD) peers and explored the associations between narrative variables, ADHD symptomatology, and memory skills in the participants on the autistic spectrum. : The participants were 39 children aged 7 to 12 years, 19 with HF-ASD and 20 age-matched, vocabulary-matched, and cognitively matched TD peers.

Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is the second most common obstetric complication after preterm labor. Appropriate trophoblast differentiation and placental structure, growth and function are key for the maintenance of pregnancy and normal fetal growth, development and survival. Extravillous trophoblast cell proliferation, migration and invasion are regulated by molecules produced by the fetomaternal interface, including autocrine factors produced by the trophoblast, such as insulin‑like growth factor (IGF)‑1.

Feeding is an interactive process between parents and children and is related to children's healthy nutrition, growth, and feelings about the child or parent. The effectiveness of the interaction between feeding and behaviour is strongly influenced by how well this reciprocal procedure is stimulated and supported. The current study aimed to cross-culturally adapt and validate the About Your Child's Eating (AYCE) questionnaire in its Greek language version for Greek-Cypriot parents and caregivers of children aged six months to 16 years with or without feeding and swallowing problems.

Article Synopsis
  • This study focused on identifying genetic variants in 500 Greek individuals suspected of having 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD), a common form of congenital adrenal hyperplasia, by using gene sequencing and MLPA techniques.* -
  • Genetic diagnoses were confirmed in 27.4% of the cases, with a notable portion of subjects displaying the non-classic form of 21-OHD, and 42.6% being heterozygotes; however, 27% exhibited no identifiable pathogenic variants.* -
  • The study suggested that measuring the change in 17-hydroxyprogesterone levels post-ACTH stimulation might serve as a potential biomarker to differentiate heterozygotes from those without
