Staphylococcus aureus prosthetic joint infections (PJIs) are broadly considered incurable, and clinical diagnostics that guide conservative vs. aggressive surgical treatments do not exist. Multi-omics studies in a humanized NSG-SGM3 BLT mouse model demonstrate human T cells: 1) are remarkably heterogenous in gene expression and numbers, and 2) exist as a mixed population of activated, progenitor-exhausted, and terminally-exhausted Th1/Th17 cells with increased expression of immune checkpoint proteins (LAG3, TIM-3).

We report a homeostatic function of the inflammasome in suppressing malignant transformation through Ras inhibition. The gut mycobiota is crucial for intestinal homeostasis and immune function. Yet its variability and inconsistent fungal colonization of laboratory mice hinders the study of the evolutionary and immune processes that underpin commensalism. Here, we show that Kazachstania pintolopesii is a fungal commensal in wild urban and rural mice, with an exceptional ability to colonize the mouse gastrointestinal tract and dominate the gut mycobiome.

Background: The pathophysiology of protracted symptoms after COVID-19 is unclear. This study aimed to determine if long-COVID is associated with differences in baseline characteristics, markers of white matter diffusivity in the brain, and lower scores on objective cognitive testing.

Methods: Individuals who experienced COVID-19 symptoms for more than 60 days post-infection (long-COVID) (n = 56) were compared to individuals who recovered from COVID-19 within 60 days of infection (normal recovery) (n = 35).

Primary immunodeficiencies, also commonly called inborn errors of immunity (IEI), are commonly due to developmental or functional defects in peripheral blood cells derived from hematopoietic stem cells. In light of this, for the past 50 years, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has been used as a definitive therapy for IEI. The fields of both clinical immunology and transplantation medicine have had significant advances.
