Atrazine degradation in soil: effects of adjuvants and a comparison of three mathematical models.

Background: There are few reports on the effects of spray adjuvants on pesticide persistence. The role of three adjuvants used with atrazine on the herbicide's degradation in soil was examined. Three mathematical models were used to describe pesticide disappearance from soil: pseudo-first-order kinetics, the non-linear Gustafson-Holden model and the biexponential function.

Comparison of linuron degradation in the presence of pesticide mixtures in soil under laboratory conditions.

It is widely recognised that complex interactions occur between chemicals in mixtures. In many agricultural situations, the use of tank mixes and complex spray programs is a common practice. Insecticides, fungicides and a herbicide being applied in potato protection were used in this research.

Gastrointestinal helminths of dogs in Western Pomerania, Poland.

A total of 763 fecal samples were collected from dogs in Western Pomerania during 2006-2007 to determine the gastrointestinal parasite fauna of dogs in this region. In the city of Szczecin, 648 fecal samples were collected every month in the annual cycle from nine city areas and analysed. Six fecal samples were taken at each collection time from each site.

[CT investigation of Egyptian mummy from the XXI dynasty period].

The authors presents unique CT scans of an intact egyptian mummy dating back to the 8th c. BC. The CT scans suggest a possibility of preserved papyrus and jewelry from that epoch.
