Background: According to the WHO's recommendation for developing countries, Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination has been implemented in some countries as part of national vaccination programs at birth. Although it is generally considered safe, some complications may occur; including BCGitis (local) or BCGosis (systemic), ranging from mild like local abscesses to fatal impediments like osteomyelitis and disseminated BCG infection. A surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRI)-based biosensor is demonstrated for the detection of both hydrogen peroxide (HO) and glucose. The HO to be detected acts as an oxidant and etch the silver film. This process gradually effects on resonance condition and consequently the reflected light intensity at a fixed angle.

Purpose: The primary objective of this study was to explore the effects of intensive voice-focused treatment on speech parameters in Spanish speakers with dysarthria associated with Parkinson's disease (PD) as perceived by naïve listeners.

Method: Fifteen Spanish speakers with dysarthria associated with PD received the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD) for a month. Voice and speech recordings were conducted pretreatment, posttreatment, and at a 1-month follow-up.

This paper presents an alternative energy function for global optimization (GO) beamforming, tailored to acoustic broadband sources. Given that properties, such as the source location, multipole rotation, or flow conditions, are parameterized over the frequency, a cross spectral matrix-fitting can be performed for all frequencies at once. A numerical analysis shows that the nonlinear energy function for the standard GO problem is equivalent to the source's point spread function (PSF) and contains local minima at the locations of the grating lobes and side lobes.
