Many patients wish to receive end-of-life care at home. Liberal professionals are necessarily called upon to help in these situations. The issues most frequently raised are the management of specific symptoms, lack of knowledge of palliative care support structures, and a feeling of isolation among caregivers.

Sleep Disorders and Therapeutic Management: A Survey in a French Population of Prisoners.

In a French prison, most inmates reported not being satisfied with their sleep. Life habits between good and bad sleepers were not significantly different except for television and smoking. The most frequently reported symptom of insomnia was several awakenings at night, and the most frequently cited etiologies were rumination of thoughts and noise.

Nontrophic interactions, biodiversity, and ecosystem functioning: an interaction web model.

Research into the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning has mainly focused on the effects of species diversity on ecosystem properties in plant communities and, more recently, in food webs. Although there is growing recognition of the significance of nontrophic interactions in ecology, these interactions are still poorly studied theoretically, and their impact on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning is largely unknown. Existing models of mutualism usually consider only one type of species interaction and do not satisfy mass balance constraints.

Aortic valve or root replacement with cryopreserved homograft for active infectious endocarditis.

Active aortic endocarditis is a serious condition that carries a high mortality and morbidity. The aim of this study was to analyse results obtained from 24 patients who underwent aortic valve or root replacement with cryopreserved homograft for aortic endocarditis. Eleven patients had native valve endocarditis, and 13 had prosthetic valve endocarditis.
