Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia in the Pediatric Age Group: The Egyptian Experience.

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is a common disease entity among adults; however, it is rare among the pediatric age group. Evidence is scarce regarding pediatric AIHA in the literature. The objective of this study is to assess the frequency of AIHA and describe the clinical and laboratory characteristics and treatment outcomes of a cohort of children with AIHA in Egypt.

Servant leadership and performance of public hospitals: Trust in the leader and psychological empowerment of nurses.

Aims: This study examines the effect of servant leadership on the performance of the hospital through the mediating effect of trust in the leader. It further analyses the moderating role of psychological empowerment.

Spectral and magnetic properties of phenylazo-6-aminouracil complexes.

Complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with substituted phenylazo-6-aminouracils containing (-H, p-OH, p-CH(3), p-OCH(3) p-COOH) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic measurements and spectral measurements (IR, UV-Vis, ESR). Infrared spectra assigned the fundamental bands of the major groups, O-H, N-H, C-H, C=O, C=N, N=N, C-N and C-O (nu, delta and gamma modes of vibrations). The absence of nu(OH) and the appearance of nu(C=O) in the infrared spectra of the free ligands of 5-(p-tolyl and p-anisylazo)-6-aminouracil, assigned the keto structure, whereas in cases of 5-(phenyl, p-hydroxyphenyl and p-carboxyphenylazo)-6-aminouracil ligands, the data showed strong nu(OH) and nu(C=O) bands to assign keto-enol tautomerisms.

[An adult form of type-I. Gaucher's disease].

A young woman with no previous history of any diseases was admitted for further evaluation of a mild thrombocytopenia she has had for some months. No signs of bleeding have so far occurred. Physical examination was normal except for a moderately enlarged spleen.

Requirement of multiple SH3 domains of Nck for ligand binding.

The Nck adaptor protein comprises a single C-terminal SH2 domain and three SH3 domains. The domain structure of Nck suggests that Nck links tyrosine kinase substrates to proteins containing proline-rich motifs. Here we show that Bcr/Abl tyrosine kinase, and three tyrosine phosphorylated proteins (115, 120 and 155 kDa) are co-immunoprecipitated with antibody against Nck from lysates of the human leukaemia cell line K562.
