Purpose: Despite international guidelines being available, not all gender clinics are able to face gender dysphoric (GD) youth population needs specifically. This is particularly true in Italy. Centers offering specialized support are relatively few and a commonly accepted Italian approach to GD youth has still not been defined.

It is only in the past few years that transsexualism has been deeply investigated systematically. In fact in our Country there is a lack of data on both the incidence of transsexualism and on the behaviour of transsexuals. In this paper we present our experience on this topic.

[Effects of long-term administration of androgens on the breast in transsexual women].

At present the effect on chronic hormonal treatment of normal mammary glands is not known. However, it is thought that high levels of androgens can cause both stromal sclerosis and epithelial atrophy and might provoke fibrocystic mastopathy. The authors describe their own histological studies performed on mammary glands of two women.
