Regional disparities in the management and outcomes of ST-elevation myocardial infarction: an Italian analysis focusing on time-dependent reperfusion networks and in-hospital logistics.

Background: Prompt reperfusion is critical for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) to improve outcomes. Yet, variability in regional healthcare delivery may influence treatment times and patient outcomes. We thus aimed at evaluating differences in management and outcomes of STEMI patients across Northern, Central, and Southern Italy, focusing on time-dependent reperfusion and in-hospital logistics.

Left atrial appendage closure in patients with failure of anticoagulation therapy: A multicenter comparative study on the hybrid strategy using DOACs and VKAs.

Background: Patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (nvAF) who experienced a cardioembolic (CE) event despite adequate oral anticoagulation (OAC) are at high risk of recurrence and the combination between percutaneous left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) and long-term OAC may be a valuable option. The aim of this study was to compare the safety and the efficacy of post-LAAC long-term assumption of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) vs. vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) in this population.

Atrial function after percutaneous occluder device and suture-mediated patent fossa ovalis closure.

Aims: Suture-mediated patent fossa ovalis (PFO) closure is a recent technique, achieving closure by means of a simple suture. The differences between traditional occluders and suture might have different impacts on atrial function. The aim of this study was to evaluate atrial function after PFO closure by direct suture and traditional occluders.
