Evaluating and Visualizing the Economic Impact of Commercial Districts Due to an Electric Power Network Disruption.

Critical infrastructure networks enable social behavior, economic productivity, and the way of life of communities. Disruptions to these cyber-physical-social networks highlight their importance. Recent disruptions caused by natural phenomena, including Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in 2017, have particularly demonstrated the importance of functioning electric power networks.

The Adh1 gene of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae is expressed during insect colonization and required for full virulence.

Zymography of alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) activity in the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae grown under various conditions revealed that micro-aerobic growth was associated with increased ADH activity. The major ADH protein, AdhIp, was purified to homogeneity by affinity chromatography and has an estimated molecular weight of 41kDa and an isoelectric point (pI) of 6.4.

[Evaluation of mass spectrometry for the identification of clinically interesting yeasts].

Introduction: Identification of yeasts is based on morphological, biochemical and nutritional characteristics, and using molecular methods. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry, a new method for the identification of microorganisms, has demonstrated to be very useful. The aim of this study is to evaluate this new method in the identification of yeasts.

[Fungemia due to Trichosporon asahii in a patient with hematological malignancy].

Background: Trichosporonosis is an opportunistic infection caused by the genus Trichosporon. The majority of cases of invasive trichosporonosis occurs in immunocompromised individuals.

Case Report: We describe a case of disseminated infection by Trichosporon asahii in a hematology patient.
