Purpose: Achieving endocrine remission by gross total resection is challenging in pituitary neuroendocrine tumours (PitNETs) with cavernous sinus invasion. This study aims to assess the safety, feasibility, and optimal dose for intraoperative fluorescence imaging as an added instrument to discriminate PitNET from surrounding tissue using bevacizumab-800CW, targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A).

Methods: In part I, dose-escalation (0-4∙5-10-25 mg) was performed in 4 groups of 3 patients with PitNETs Knosp grade 3-4.

Objectives: Existing knowledge on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after surgical removal of sinonasal inverted papilloma (IP) is limited. Moreover, predictors for a better or worse post-operative HRQoL outcome are not known. Our aim was to assess HRQoL in all three health domains (physical, psychological, and social), track its post-operative trajectory, investigate if pre-operative observations could predict distinct post-operative HRQoL outcomes, and evaluate whether physicians' interventions could contribute to improved post-operative HRQoL.

Objective: Social functioning is an important factor in the evaluation of postoperative health-related quality of life (HRQoL) for pituitary adenoma patients. In a prospective cohort study multidimensional HRQoL of non-functioning (NFA) and functioning (FA) pituitary adenoma patients were evaluated following endoscopic endonasal surgery using the endoscopic endonasal sinus and skull base surgery questionnaire (EES-Q).

Methods: Prospectively, 101 patients were included.

Article Synopsis
  • There are tools to check how health affects the quality of life for people with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), but most don't cover all important areas like physical, social, and psychological health.
  • The Endoscopic Endonasal Sinus and Skull Base Surgery Questionnaire (EES-Q) is one tool that does assess all these areas.
  • This study found that people with CRS had much lower quality of life scores compared to healthy individuals, showing that the EES-Q can help understand the impacts of CRS better.

This case report concerns a 31-year-old male with an aggressive pituitary tumor who presented initially with bitemporal hemianopsia and slightly elevated prolactin. On magnetic resonance imaging of the brain, there was a sellar mass with parasellar invasion to the lateral aspects of the internal carotid arteries, compressing the optic chiasm. On histopathological analysis, the diagnosis was made of a densely granulated lactotroph pituitary tumor with a Ki67 proliferation rate of 15%, a mitotic count of 6/10 high-power fields, and p53 positivity.
