Dual-Mobility Total Hip Arthroplasty in Patients with Obesity, Morbid Obesity and Super-Obesity: Medium-Term Outcomes of a Series of 180 Hips.

Background: Obesity has been consistently proven to be associated with an increased risk of dislocation following total hip arthroplasty (THA). As the prevalence of obesity continues to rise globally, it is of vital importance to minimise risks, including dislocation rates, in these patients undergoing THA.

Methods: We describe a series of patients with obesity, morbid obesity (BMI ≥ 40) and super-obesity (BMI ≥ 50) undergoing THA at our institution over a 10-year period using a dual-mobility acetabular cup.

One-stage Revision in a Prosthetic Hip Joint Infection with Late Presentation: A Case Report.

A 69-year-old female patient, who had been operated on 20 years ago (unipolar hip prosthesis), presented with a complaint of pain in the thigh and a limp with onset 1 year before. An X ray revealed stem subsidence and varus collapse. One-stage revision hip replacement was performed in view of poor cardiac status, and grew in the tissue culture.

A Diagnostic Study Using STARD Platform on Liquid-Based Cytology in Cervical Smear and Its Positivity Rate among Females with Abnormal Vaginal Conditions Attending a Tertiary Care Center.

Background: Liquid-based cytology (LBC) is a newer method of preparing cervical cell samples. This technique involves collecting cells in a liquid fixative and preparing and evaluating them.

Aim: This study aims to investigate cervical smears prepared using the Ezi-Prep LBC method and analyze the positivity rate for cervical cancer and assess the diagnostic accuracy of LBC in detecting cervical abnormalities among females with abnormal vaginal conditions attending a tertiary care center.

High altitude pulmonary oedema: Mimicker of acute coronary syndrome.

High altitude pulmonary oedema (HAPO) is a common emergency seen at high altitude. It can be associated with electrocardiogram (ECG) changes due to pulmonary arterial hypertension in the form of ST elevation and T wave inversion in the right precordial leads, which mimic acute coronary syndrome. These changes can lead to confusion in diagnosis and management.
