The geochemical analysis of Gafsa rock phosphate (GRP) revealed relatively high concentrations of essential plant minerals and trace heavy metals (HMs). Environmental contamination factors indicated moderate to very strong HM contamination due to GRP soil amendment. The potential use of the Serratia plymuthica BMA1 strain, which is known for its ability to solubilize GRP, to enhance mineral nutrition in Vicia faba L.

Regulatory T (Treg) cells play key roles in cancer immunity by suppressing a range of antitumor immune responses and contributing to resistance to programmed death (PD)-1 blockade therapy. Given their critical roles in self-tolerance, local control of immunosuppression by Treg cells, such as in the tumor microenvironment (TME), has been intensively studied. Inhibition of heat shock protein 90 (HSP90), a chaperone with vital roles in regulating proteostasis in cancer cells, impedes cancer progression by interrupting oncogenic signaling pathways and potentially modulating antitumor immunity, but we have very little mechanistic insight into these immune modulatory effects.

Aerobic granular sludge (AGS) has been widely applied in pharmaceutical wastewater treatment due to its advantages such as high biomass and excellent settling performance. However, the influence of commonly found antibiotics in pharmaceutical wastewater on the operational efficiency of AGS has been poorly explored. This study investigated the effects of tetracycline (TE) on AGS treating pharmaceutical wastewater at room temperature and analyzed the related mechanisms.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the potential of khellin (KL) to counteract the effects of Parkinson's disease (PD) induced by rotenone in zebrafish, using various analyses including drug assessments, molecular docking, and dynamics studies which indicated strong binding affinity of KL to monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B).
  • - KL demonstrated significant antioxidant properties in vitro, suggesting it can help maintain redox balance, and further in vivo analysis revealed that KL treatment improved locomotor activity and social interactions in zebrafish models of PD while also reducing various oxidative stress markers.
  • - Histopathological examinations showed that KL treatment effectively alleviated brain abnormalities associated with PD, highlighting its potential therapeutic benefits for PD symptoms.
