The process of negotiating and balancing digital play in everyday life: Adolescents' narratives.

Background: Everyday lives of adolescents reflects a pattern and balance of occupations across the awake-sleep continuum. Despite ongoing discussions regarding overconsumption, play in digital spaces is an occupation of choice for many adolescents.

Aim: To explore and identify how the meaning of playing video games is situated in adolescents' everyday life.

Longitudinal follow-up of hearing, speech, and language skills in 6-year-old children with congenital moderate hearing loss.

Objectives: Children born with moderate hearing loss present with speech and language outcomes at both ends of the spectrum. To explore reasons for this, the objective of this study was to follow up a group of children born with moderate sensorineural hearing loss at 6 years of age (n = 7) by investigating their outcomes in hearing, speech, and language development from time point of hearing aid fitting at 6 months. Another objective was to investigate the relationship between earlier outcomes on precursing variables to the current status in auditory, speech and language development.

Finnish children born very preterm have good reading comprehension but weak reading fluency at age 11 years - a longitudinal cohort study.

Children born very preterm (<32 gestational weeks and/or birth weight ≤1500 g) are at elevated risk for reading difficulties. This study aimed to investigate reading fluency and reading comprehension at 11 and to analyze the associations between literacy skills at 7 and reading skills at 11 in 134 Finnish-speaking very preterm children. At 11, reading fluency and reading comprehension were evaluated.
