Recently, in patients who underwent left hemicolectomy with inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) preservation for distal transverse and descending colon cancers and presented with a long remnant sigmoid colon after dissection, a significant inferior rate of intestinal complications (i.e., anastomotic ulcer, stricture, venous engorgement, and colitis) of the remnant distal colon has been observed in cases of concomitant preservation of the inferior mesenteric vein (IMV) compared with its ligation.

Psychedelics, historically celebrated for their cultural and spiritual significance, have emerged as potential breakthrough therapeutic agents due to their profound effects on consciousness, emotional processing, mood, and neural plasticity. This review explores the mechanisms underlying psychedelics' effects, focusing on their ability to modulate brain connectivity and neural circuit activity, including the default mode network (DMN), cortico-striatal thalamo-cortical (CSTC) loops, and the relaxed beliefs under psychedelics (REBUS) model. Advanced neuroimaging techniques reveal psychedelics' capacity to enhance functional connectivity between sensory cerebral areas while reducing the connections between associative brain areas, decreasing the rigidity and rendering the brain more plastic and susceptible to external changings, offering insights into their therapeutic outcome.

Introduction: All forms of access to the peritoneal cavity in laparoscopy could damage intra-abdominal structures. Currently, ultrasound (USG) is being used in several procedures to guide needles: breast biopsy, central venous access puncture, anesthetic nerve blocks, etc. Therefore, this research seeks to verify the feasibility and viability of performing pneumoperitoneum using USG-guided puncture in a pilot study using a porcine model.

Subjects with ILD and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) seem to have relatively mild symptoms from sleep fragmentation compared to subjects with only ILD. The overlap of ILD, OSA, and sleeping hypoxemia may be associated with poor outcome, even though there is no agreement on which sleep parameter is mostly associated with worsening ILD prognosis.
