[Are we controlling the sedation in ICU? A multicenter study results].

The aim of this study is to evaluate the issues of sedation and analgesia in all-purpose ICUs in Russia. To obtain that, a single-day observational survey was performed in 55 ICUs of Ural and Siberia regions. This work enabled to describe the targets, instruments of control and patterns of sedative and analgetics and sedatives prescription, as well as to make conclusions about issues in this area and possibilities of creation and necessity of analgesia and sedation standards.

[Effectiveness of the treatment of chemical burns of the esophagus by local endoscopic laser therapy].

Overall 240 patients with chemical burns of the esophagus were examined. Local endoscopic treatment with the aid of lasers was applied in 180 victims. The efficacy of different types of laser radiation was compared in terms of the times of the healing of the esophageal wall.

[Effectiveness of a helium-oxygen gas mixture in transverse accelerations].

Healthy male test subjects, aged 20 to 45, were exposed to acceleration of +6 Gx for 1200 sec and of +10 Gx for 60 sec. Three gradients of the centrifuge acceleration were used in the latter case. In every experimental run the test subjects were exposed to accelerations while breathing air or a helium-oxygen atmosphere.
