Periodontal manifestations in a patient with haim-munk syndrome.

Haim-Munk syndrome is an extremely rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized clinically by palmoplantar hyperkeratosis, aggressive periodontitis with severe alveolar bone destruction, onychogryphosis, pes planus, arachnodactyly, and acro-osteolysis. Consanguinity seems a notable prerequisite. The aim of this study was therefore to report one case of this syndrome and to focus on the periodontal manifestations, in order to attract the attention of dental clinicians to this rare anomaly.

Genotoxicity of two mouthwash products in the Drosophila Wing-Spot Test.

In this study, genotoxicity of two mouthwash products (chlorexidin, benzidamine-HCl) were investigated in the Drosophila Wing-Spot Test which makes use of the wing cell markers multiple wing hairs (mwh) and flare (flr) and detects both mitotic recombination and various types of mutational events. Induced mutations are detected as single mosaic spots on the wing blade of surviving adults that show either the multiple wing hairs or flare phenotype. Induced recombination leads to mwh and flr twin spots and also, to some extent, to mwh single spots.

Revised dental beliefs survey: reliability and validity of a 22-item modified Turkish version.

The aim of this study is to create a Turkish version of the Revised Dental Beliefs Survey (DBS-R) and describe its psychometric properties. The participants were 420 general dental patients. The results of the exploratory factor analysis revealed that the DBS-R consisted of three factors consisting of 22 items.
