Neuroblastoma is the most commonly extra-cranial solid tumor of childhood frequently diagnosed. The nervous system-specific metabolite N-acetylaspartate (NAA) is synthesized from aspartate and acetyl-CoA in neurons, it is among the most abundant metabolites present in the central nervous system (CNS) and appears to be involved in many CNS disorders. The functional significance of the high NAA concentration in the brain remains uncertain, but it confers to NAA a unique clinical significance exploited in magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

Background: We sought to establish a metric for easily estimating bleeding and transfusion risks for cardiac surgery patients after antiplatelet agent use.

Methods: Deidentified records of patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) at our institution (January 2010-June 2011) were searched for patients without identified risk factors for excessive bleeding who underwent documented P2Y12 testing after clopidogrel administration (n = 276). Clinical outcomes were analyzed according to whether preoperative platelet function was higher (platelet reactivity units [PRUs], ≥237) or lower (PRU, <237) and according to preoperative PRU cutoffs: high (>290, or no clopidogrel), intermediate (200-290), or low (<200).

We have generated a panel of 55 somatic cell hybrids retaining fragments of human chromosome 4. Each hybrid has been characterized cytogenetically by FISH and molecularly by 37 STSs, evenly spaced along the chromosome. The panel can be exploited to map subregionally DNA sequences on chromosome 4 and to generate partial chromosome paints useful in the characterization of chromosomal rearrangements involving this chromosome.

We have generated a panel of 20 somatic cell hybrids retaining fragments of human chromosome 12. Each hybrid was characterized cytogenetically by reverse fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and molecularly by 24 sequence tagged sites (STSs) spaced evenly along the chromosome. The panel can be exploited to map subregionally DNA sequences on chromosome 12 and to generate partial chromosome paints useful in the characterization of chromosomal rearrangements involving this chromosome.
