Host plants provide resources critical to viruses and the spatial structuring of plant communities affects the niches available for colonisation and disease emergence. However, large gaps remain in the understanding of mechanisms that govern plant-virus disease ecology across heterogeneous plant assemblages. We combine high-throughput sequencing, network, and metacommunity approaches to test whether habitat heterogeneity in plant community composition corresponded with virus resource utilisation traits of transmission mode and host range.

Article Synopsis
  • Penile prosthesis (PP) is a key treatment for Peyronie's disease (PD) in patients with refractory erectile dysfunction (ED), but this study evaluates its use in PD patients without ED.
  • A total of 636 patients had PP for PD from 2012 to 2022, with 168 included in the study, showing that the mean age was 56.3 years and curvature angles were similar between those with and without ED.
  • Results indicated high satisfaction rates (around 88%) for both groups post-surgery, and fewer mechanical failures in the no-ED group; thus, PP may be a safe and effective option for PD treatment, but more research is needed.

We present the design and synthesis of two new organic polymer films making use of a liquid-liquid interfacial amine-acid chloride polymerization strategy. One of them was additionally functionalized by the anchoring of -phenyl-phenothiazine through a monomer truncation strategy, which endowed it with photocatalytic activity. This photoactive film displays interesting luminescence phenomena that were used for the oxidation of a variety of sulphides to their corresponding sulfoxides and reduction of aryl bromines.

Purpose: To evaluate Hugo RAS against the Da Vinci system for Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy (RARP) in prostate cancer treatment.

Methods: We compared outcomes of 150 patients with prostate cancer undergoing RARP with either Hugo or Da Vinci systems. Our analysis included operative, postoperative, pathological, and functional outcomes.
