Experiences of Oral Corticosteroid Use and Adverse Effects: A National Cross-Sectional Survey of People with Asthma.

Purpose: Oral corticosteroids (OCS) are an effective treatment for severe uncontrolled asthma or asthma exacerbations, but frequent bursts or long-term use carry serious and sometimes irreversible adverse effects, or complications such as adrenal insufficiency upon discontinuation. Our aim was to survey people with asthma on their experiences of, and attitudes towards, using OCS.

Patients And Methods: This study was a national descriptive cross-sectional survey of people with asthma in Australia.

Optimising an immersive virtual reality behaviour change intervention to support retired and non-working adults to reduce their sedentary behaviour: a mini-focus group interview study.

Objective: Prolonged sedentary behaviour is associated with numerous negative health outcomes. Immersive virtual reality (IVR) offers opportunities for retired and non-working adults to take part in meaningful non-sedentary activities that may not be available to them in their natural environment. Using the behaviour change wheel and theoretical domains framework, an IVR intervention prototype was developed.

Body Shame Predicts Healthcare Discomfort and Avoidance in College Women Through the Mechanism of Low Body Responsiveness.

Background: Many cultures promote ideals for women's bodies that are difficult to meet, and not meeting these ideals may result in body shame. Body shame predicts discomfort in and avoidance of situations in which the body may be scrutinized. As the healthcare setting frequently involves examination of the body, body shame may predict discomfort in and avoidance of the healthcare setting.

Preconception health in adolescence and adulthood across generations in the UK: Findings from three British birth cohort studies.

Optimising preconception health in women and men holds significant potential for improving pregnancy and offspring health outcomes. To create a picture of the state of preconception health in the UK, this study aimed to describe the prevalence of and changes in preconception health indicators reported in three British birth cohort studies: the 1970 British Birth Cohort Study (BCS70; born in 1970; N = 17,198), Next Steps (1989-1990; N = 15,770), and Millennium Cohort Study (MCS; 2000-2002; N = 19,517). The analysis focused on data obtained during participants' adolescence (16-17 years) and subsequent follow-ups at 25-26 years for BCS70 and Next Steps.
