Moniliophthora perniciosa is the causal agent of the witches' broom disease of cacao (Theobroma cacao), and it can infect the tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) 'Micro-Tom' (MT) cultivar. Typical symptoms of infection are stem swelling and axillary shoot outgrowth, whereas reduction in root biomass is another side effect. Using infected MT, we investigated whether impaired root growth derives from hormonal imbalance or sink competition.

A defining hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the synaptic aggregation of the amyloid β (Aβ) peptide. , Aβ production results in a diverse mixture of variants, of which Aβ40, Aβ42, and Aβ43 are profusely present in the AD brain, and their relative abundance is recognized to play a role in disease onset and progression. Nonetheless, the occurrence of Aβ40, Aβ42, and Aβ43 hetero-oligomerization and the subsequent effects on Aβ aggregation remain elusive and were investigated here.

Introduction: Strength training (ST) is a strategy to enhance quality of life through increased strength, muscle hypertrophy, and functional capacity.
