Headache as main reason for consultation to a hospital Emergency Department in Spain: a prospective study.

Introduction: Headache is common in the general population and a frequent reason for medical consultation.

Objectives: To describe the characteristics of patients attending the Emergency Department (ED) for headache.

Methods: A descriptive study with prospective collection of 100 consecutive patients over 15 years old who attended our ED due to headache as the main complaint.

The internal decay of wood is driven by the interplay between foraging Magellanic woodpeckers and environmental conditions.

Although woodpeckers are known to forage in decaying trees, their contribution to internal wood decay is not well known. In this sense, non-destructive techniques for structural wood degradation provide an opportunity to quantitatively assess the role of woodpeckers in tree decay. We used sonic tomography to test that the trunks of living trees pecked by Magellanic woodpeckers show pronounced decay, which accelerates under environmental conditions favorable to wood-decaying fungi.

Carotid Aneurysm Disease Review.

Carotid artery aneurysms are a rare pathology, accounting for less than 1% of all arterial aneurysms and 0.4 to 4% of all peripheral arterial aneurysms. Owing to their exceedingly rare nature, management guidelines remain far from being standardized; however, aneurysm morphology, etiology, size, location, and patient characteristics are critical factors dictating the most appropriate management approach.

The Clinical Utility of Powdered and Flowable Matrices in Wound Repair and Tissue Regeneration.

Cellular and matrix-like products come in many forms. Among them, powdered and micronized formulations have become increasingly available and popular owing to their unique properties and advantages. Powders have increased tissue contact which many believe can enhance granulation tissue formation, they fill irregular and deep cavities, and they can be used in concert with sheet-like products and skin grafts for improved healing.
