Benthic diatom vertical movement has been investigated mainly through indirect measurements based on chlorophyll a fluorescence and spectral reflectance signals. The presence of sediment hinders direct imaging and grazers activity renders the work under controlled conditions very difficult. This study provides a tool to study diatoms movement in a 3D hydrogel matrix.

There are only 30 reported cases of primary malignant melanoma of the bladder in the literature so far. Of those, 17 cases were reported as deceased within three years of presentation. Our case reported here is that of a 78-year-old female who presented with a new-onset incontinence and intermittent hematuria.
