Article Synopsis
  • Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) is an aggressive form of cancer linked to a specific genetic factor called EWS-WT1, and treatment options have not improved significantly in over 20 years.
  • Researchers conducted a comprehensive drug sensitivity test on DSRCT cells and found that they respond well to PARP and ATR inhibitors, both alone and in combination, showcasing these treatments across various models.
  • The study reveals that the combination of these inhibitors causes significant DNA damage and activates immune responses, suggesting that targeting EWS-WT1 could be an effective strategy in treating DSRCT.

The dry reforming of methane to syngas (DRM) is of increasing significance concerning, first, the production of raw materials for commercial organic/petrochemical syntheses and for hydrogen energetic, and, second, the utilization of two most harmful greenhouse gases. Herein, new SmCoO-based DRM catalysts derived from heterometallic precursors and operated without preliminary reduction are reported. For the first time, the effect of supercritical fluids-assisted modification of the SmCoO-derived catalysts combined with the re-oxidation of spent catalysts to SmCoO onto its long-term performance was studied.

In order to clarify the role of RO in the metal-oxide catalysts derived from complex oxide precursors, a series of RCaNiO (R = Nd, Sm, Eu) complex oxides was obtained. A significant systematic increase in the orthorhombic distortion of the RCaNiO structure (KNiF type, Cmce) from Nd to Eu correlates with a corresponding decrease in their ionic radii. A reduction of RCaNiO in the Ar/H gas mixture at 800 °C causes a formation of dense agglomerates of CaO and RO coated with spherical 25-30 nm particles of Ni metal.

Objectives: Targeting Fibroblast Activation Protein (FAP) is a new approach for glioblastoma imaging. In a recent pilot study glioblastomas showed elevated tracer uptake with high intratumoral heterogeneity in projection on the corresponding T2w/FLAIR and contrast enhanced MRI lesions. In this study, we correlated FAP-specific signaling with apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV) signals in MRI to further characterize the significance of FAP uptake.

Most epithelial tumors recruit fibroblasts and other nonmalignant cells and activate them into cancer-associated fibroblasts. This often leads to overexpression of the membrane serine protease fibroblast-activating protein (FAP). It has already been shown that DOTA-bearing FAP inhibitors (FAPIs) generate high-contrast images with PET/CT scans.
