Neurophysiology of perceptual decision-making and its alterations in attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Despite the prevalence of ADHD, efforts to develop a detailed understanding of the neuropsychology of this neurodevelopmental condition are complicated by the diversity of interindividual presentations and the inability of current clinical tests to distinguish between its sensory, attentional, arousal or motoric contributions. Identifying objective methods that can explain the diverse performance profiles across individuals diagnosed with ADHD has been a long-held goal. Achieving this could significantly advance our understanding of etiological processes and potentially inform the development of personalized treatment approaches.

Prevalence of overweight and obesity in incarcerated individuals in developed and developing countries: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

We systematically assessed evidence of overweight and obesity prevalence, and possible determinants, in people who experience incarceration globally. We searched Embase, Medline, and Cochrane databases. Overweight and obesity proportions were pooled into a meta-analysis and compared with national prevalences.

Intramuscular pH monitoring before and during exercise in individuals with intermittent claudication compared to healthy controls: A feasibility study.

Objective: In this feasibility study, firstly, we aimed to assess whether intramuscular pH (IMpH) could be measured with a glass-tipped electrode. Secondly, we aimed to explore whether we could monitor changes in skeletal muscle pH before and throughout static (isometric) and after dynamic (treadmill) exercise, comparing individuals with intermittent claudication (IC) to a group of healthy controls.

Methods: Forty participants with IC (mean age ± SD) 68 ± 8) and 40 healthy volunteers (63 ± 10) were recruited.

Short-term changes in human metabolism following a 5-h delay of the light-dark and behavioral cycle.

Experimental inversion of circadian and behavioral rhythms by 12 h adversely affects markers of metabolic health. We investigated the effects of a more modest 5-h delay in behavioral cycles. Fourteen participants completed an 8-day in-patient laboratory protocol, with controlled sleep-wake opportunities, light-dark cycles, and diet.
