Are Current Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Fit for Purpose to Evaluate Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty?

The optimal procedure for isolated end-stage medial compartment knee osteoarthritis (OA) remains uncertain, with debate persisting between unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The aim of this narrative review is to evaluate current outcome measures in knee arthroplasty (KA) and explore how evolving patient populations and technological advancements may necessitate the use of different patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for evaluating UKA. While UKA offers potential advantages over TKA in early pain relief and functional outcomes, most randomised control trials using traditional PROMs have failed to show definitive superiority.

Telerehabilitation and Its Impact Following Stroke: An Umbrella Review of Systematic Reviews.

: To summarize the impact of various telerehabilitation interventions on motor function, balance, gait, activities of daily living (ADLs), and quality of life (QoL) among patients with stroke and to determine the existing telerehabilitation interventions for delivering physiotherapy sessions in clinical practice. : Six electronic databases were searched to identify relevant quantitative systematic reviews (SRs). Due to substantial heterogeneity, the data were analysed narratively.

Barriers and enablers to opioid deprescription: A qualitative study.

Background: Canada has the fourth highest per capita rate of opioid prescriptions in the world, contributing to the country's opioid crisis. Due to both their pain-relieving and euphoric properties, opioids can be highly addictive, leading to potential overdose and death. Deprescription is an endorsed and organized method of discontinuing a drug but very little is known about the barriers that Canadian physicians face when attempting to deprescribe opioids, particularly those who practice in rural areas (which have some of the highest rates of opioid users).

Incidence of Norovirus-Associated Acute Gastroenteritis across Age Groups in a Peruvian Andean Community.

Norovirus is the leading cause of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) globally. Few longitudinal studies have assessed norovirus-associated AGE incidence across age groups in community settings in Latin America. During April 2015-April 2019, active surveillance for AGE among community members of all ages was conducted through household visits two to three times per week in San Jeronimo, Cusco, Peru.
