The efficacy of epidural blood patch (EBP) is highly variable, and often, clinicians are unable to identify the underlying reasons for treatment failure. A 36-year-old parturient underwent a "blind" epidural blood patch (EBP) without image guidance but failed to obtain relief from a postural headache related to the labor epidural. During the second EBP, an intact plica mediana dorsalis (PMD) was visualized in the anterior-posterior fluoroscopic view after injection of contrast, and autologous blood was injected on both sides of the PMD, leading to the complete resolution of headache symptoms.

Microsatellite instability (MSI) is an important biomarker in cancer. While routine methods can detect MSI in certain tumor types, in other tumor types the results may be incorrect due to differences in the MSI loci pattern. Here, we report the case of a patient with pancreatic adenocarcinoma, with confirmed MSI by two independent next-generation sequencing tests, but not by routine methods, who had progression on pembrolizumab.

This study aimed to determine whether male stress is related to seminal stress biomarkers and pregnancy achievement in women exposed to their partner's seminal plasma (SP) in the intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycle. In this pilot prospective study, 20 couples undergoing ICSI, as well as 5 fertile sperm donors and 10 saliva donors, were investigated. Women were exposed to their partner's SP via unprotected sexual intercourse during the ICSI cycle and intravaginal application on the day of ovum pick-up (Day-OPU).

Here, we show that under pH and osmotic stress FocA and FocB play important roles in regulating proton and potassium fluxes and couple this with H production in stationary-phase cells. Using whole-cell assays with glucose as electron donor, a focB mutant showed a 50 % decrease in V, while N'N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCCD) treatment of osmotically stressed cells underlined the role of FF ATPase in H production.
