Elevated intraocular pressure in a child with Stickler syndrome after scleral buckle surgery for retinal detachment.

Stickler syndrome, a rare connective tissue disorder, presents with a broad spectrum of ocular manifestations, including myopia, vitreoretinal degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal detachment. While extensive data exists on the treatment outcomes of retinal detachment repair in Stickler syndrome, the potential risks associated with acute postoperative intraocular pressure elevation remain underexplored. We report the case of a 10-year-old boy with Stickler syndrome who underwent scleral buckling surgery and subsequently experienced ocular hypertension.

Effect Modifiers and Risk Factors of Intraocular Inflammation Following Brolucizumab: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Purpose: To identify risk factors and effect modifiers associated with intraocular inflammation (IOI) following brolucizumab injection.

Methods: Our protocol was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42022382645). We searched six electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CENTRAL, EMBASE, and Google Scholar) to retrieve all studies that reported the occurrence of IOI following brolucizumab.

Updating the no-history method in intraocular lens power calculation after myopic laser vision correction.

Purpose: To describe the Shammas-Cooke formula, an updated no-history (NH) formula for IOL calculation in eyes with prior myopic laser vision correction (M-LVC), and to compare the results with the Shammas PL, Haigis-L, and Barrett True-K NH formulas.

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of trabeculectomy compared to glaucoma drainage devices (GDDs) in managing uveitic glaucoma (UG).

Design: Systematic review.

Methods: We searched seven electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, EMBASE, CENTRAL, and Google Scholar) to compare trabeculectomy with various GDDs in UG.

Pioglitazone ameliorates sepsis-associated encephalopathy through SIRT1 signaling pathway.

Sepsis is a severe immune response to an infection. It is associated with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODs) along with systemic and neuronal inflammatory response. This study focused on the acute neurologic dysfunction associated with sepsis by exploring the role of PPARγ/SIRT1 pathway against sepsis.
