The primary goals of this paper are to facilitate data-driven decision making in solid waste management (SWM) and to support the transition towards a circular economy, by providing estimates of the composition and quantity of waste. To that end, it introduces a novel two-phase strategy for predicting municipal solid waste (MSW). The first phase predicts the waste composition, the second phase predicts the total quantity, and the two predictions are combined to give a comprehensive waste estimate.

Racially and ethnically minoritized (minoritized) autistic individuals face intersectional disparities in service access in the transition to adulthood. Our understanding of disparities is limited by systematic exclusion from research and inadequate approaches to characterizing services. To address these gaps and effect advocacy, this study (1) examined services received, unmet service needs, and barriers in minoritized autistic adolescents and adults and (2) determined if language, NVIQ, and autism traits predict services when deployed as binary or continuous variables.

Article Synopsis
  • Glioma is the most common brain tumor in adults, and current methods for classifying it rely on molecular changes like IDH1.R132H, which can be risky and may not fully capture the complexity of the tumor.
  • A new liquid biopsy test called mt-IDH1 is introduced, allowing for a minimally invasive blood test that detects tumor RNA using just 2 ml of plasma.
  • In a study with 133 participants, the mt-IDH1 test showed a sensitivity of 75% and specificity of 88.7%, proving its potential for diagnosis and monitoring of gliomas, with results available in under 4 hours.
