Purpose: The collar region of an implant is its connection to the oral cavity. A balance between osseointegration on one hand and the absence of plaque accumulation on the other hand is necessary for successful implantation. It is yet to be determined which implant collar design, polished or rough, is best to stabilize the crestal bone level, avoiding peri-implantitis and subsequent risk of implant loss.

We report on strong renormalization encountered in periodically driven interacting quantum dots in the nonadiabatic regime. Correlations between lead and dot electrons enhance or suppress the amplitude of driving depending on the sign of the interaction. Employing a newly developed flexible renormalization-group-based approach for periodic driving to an interacting resonant level we show analytically that the magnitude of this effect follows a power law.

Background: The first mammalian protein histidine phosphatase (PHP) was discovered in the late 90s of the last century. One of the known substrates of PHP is ATP-citrate lyase (ACL), which is responsible--amongst other functions--for providing acetyl-CoA for acetylcholine synthesis in neuronal tissues. It has been shown in previous studies that PHP downregulates the activity of ACL by dephosphorylation.

Intra-oral keratoacanthoma, occurring in the absence of cutaneous lesions, is a rare lesion which may resemble a well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma both clinically and histologically. A case is reported of two simultaneously occurring keratoacanthomas, of the eruptive variant, on the hard palate of a 25-year-old woman. A review of the English literature, which has identified ten documented cases to date, is presented.

Open reduction of condylar neck fractures is a contentious issue. The majority of these fractures can be treated conservatively. There are, however, specific situations, where open reduction is indicated.
