[Automated diagnosis--new possibilities through user-specific software].

After four years of development and testing, we have devised a software system especially adapted to the recording, storage and monitoring of radiological findings. After full implementation of this system, sufficient practical experience has been collected for effecting a comprehensive assessment. The qualitative and quantitative aspects of a discipline-specific software are described in detail and can be used for comparison with other EDP systems.

[Embryonal carcinoma of the lung--a contribution to the differential diagnosis of pulmonary coin lesions].

The unusual case of an embryonal cell carcinoma of the lung mimicking pulmonary coin lesions on chest radiography is reported. The differential diagnostic problems and theories of genesis of the tumor are discussed.

[Evaluation of spontaneous renal extravasation of contrast media in the excretory urogram].

Spontaneous renal extravasation is the term used to refer to the radiological demonstration of contrast medium outside the collecting system without previous trauma, ureter catheterization, operation on the kidney or its vicinity, and without external compression during urography. In a review of 1300 intravenous urograms, 13 cases of extravasation of contrast medium were found to satisfy the above criteria. Differences in the radiological appearance may cause problems with regard to evaluation and classification.

[Extragonadal germ cell tumors--diagnostic and therapeutic aspects].

The extratesticular manifestation of a tumor of the germ cells without apparent involvement of the testicle is a rare disease. During the last few years, seven patients with extragonadal tumors of the germ cells have been treated at our hospital. Tumor site was the retroperitoneum in four patients and the mediastinum, the lung, and the pineal body in one patient each.
