[Cardiac sinus node dysfunction due to a new mutation of the SCN5A gene].

A 10-year-old child was hospitalized for bradycardia during a viral infection with chikungunya. His history showed unexplored episodes of bradycardia. Cardiologic explorations revealed cardiac sinus node dysfunction (SD).

Congenital heart defects in La Réunion Island: a 6-year survey within a EUROCAT-affiliated congenital anomalies registry.

Objectives: This study compares the prevalence and perinatal mortality of congenital heart defects on La Réunion with European (EUROCAT) standards.

Methods And Results: Data were extracted from a EUROCAT-affiliated congenital malformations registry, covering 88,025 births during the period 2002-2007, on the whole island territory. A total of 512 congenital heart defects were registered, including 424 live births, 18 foetal deaths from 16 weeks of gestation, and 70 terminations of pregnancy.

Videoconference pediatric and congenital cardiology consultations: a new application in telemedicine.

Background: The relative rarity of congenital heart disease gives it an orphean disease status, requiring specialised centres. The present maturity of information technology allows telemedicine to be integrated into current medical practice. We report our experience of telemedicine between the cardiology department at St Pierre Hospital on the island of Réunion and the pediatric cardiology department at the teaching hospital in Toulouse.

Unlabelled: Meningoencephalitis due to Listeria monocytogenes is a rare and serious form of brainstem infection in childhood.

Observation: We report the case of a 7 year-old girl presenting lymphocytic meningitis with a high CRP level. Parenteral antibiotics combining ceftriaxone and vancomycine led initially to clinical improvement.
