The integrative symposium investigated different aspects of alcohol-induced liver disease (ALD) as well as non-alcohol-induced liver disease (NAFLD) and possible repair.

Dentist shortage: an analysis of dentists, practices, and populations in the underserved areas.

Objectives: The objectives of this study are to identify and describe the characteristics of dental underserved geographic areas. Understanding these characteristics is an important step in addressing access to dental care barriers.

Methods: Dental underserved areas were identified from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) database and converted to census tracts for analysis.

Risk factors for osteonecrosis of the jaws: a case-control study from the CONDOR Dental PBRN.

Case reports and cohort studies have linked bisphosphonate therapy and osteonecrosis of the jaws (ONJ), but neither causality nor specific risks for lesion development have been clearly established. We conducted a 1:3 case-control study with 3 dental practice-based research networks, using dentist questionnaires and patient interviews for collection of data on bisphosphonate therapy, demographics, co-morbidities, and dental and medical treatments. Multivariable logistic regression analyses tested associations between bisphosphonate use and other risk factors with ONJ.
